NEKO-BU-KAI ACADEMY

Neko-Bu-Kai is a traditional martial arts academy with over 40 years of continuous practice and transmission. Founded in Bergamo, Italy, and now based in Oxford, we preserve and teach methods that reflect the original intent of Shotokan Karate, traditional Okinawan weapon studies, and Japanese body conditioning.

This training is not fitness-class entertainment, a commercial programme, or a quick-results system. It is methodical practice grounded in discipline, precision, and depth.

KARATE-DO

Study follows the form of Shotokan as codified by Master Funakoshi and sustained by Master Hirokazu Kanazawa – technical rigor, structural clarity, and logical progression.

TAISŌ

Japanese body conditioning rooted in movement, breath, and stance work – emphasising structural alignment and mindful physical integrity.

KOBUJUTSU

Weapon study taught in context with empty-hand training as traditionally done in Okinawan practice, enhancing coordination and historical continuity.

THE PRACTICE

Martial arts here are approached as a structured discipline of training, not for spectacle, competition, or self-help slogans. The path of practice involves fundamentals, repetition, correction, and incremental refinement. True understanding grows slowly – through practice, presence, and patience.
