about us

Bergamo – Oxford

Academy

The Academy was officially founded in Bergamo (Italy) as a Shotokan Karate School, originating from a pre-existing organisation, the S.K.I. led by Master Cividini.

In January 2013, Senseis Domenico Scarpellini, his twin brother Clemente, and his son Alberto laid the foundations of the family-run school, bringing with them over 40 years of experience— having begun their journey in the late 1970s under Master Cividini.

Over the years, they encountered and trained with some of the greatest masters and interpreters of this art, such as Master Kanazawa, Master Kato, Master Tomita, and Master Yumoto.

Through continuous study and the pursuit of the deeper meanings of martial arts, the Scarpellinis came into contact with masters and instructors of other martial disciplines. Some of these encounters blossomed into lasting friendships built on shared martial values.

In 2013, the Shaolin Wuseng School was founded by Shifu Matteo Rossi, a friend of Sensei Alberto, with whom he regularly trains and exchanges ideas, theories, and techniques.

In 2017, Master and friend Roberto Ferrari opened the Aikido Nekobukai School, celebrating 30 years of practice the following year.
