our

PHILOSOPHY

The Neko-Bu-Kai Karate School approaches and promotes karate as a theoretical framework for physical training of both mind and body. By studying techniques that engage the entire body, continually training hands and feet, and using specific breathing methods, one can achieve mental focus and cultivate the body to live in good health.

In an age dominated by combat sports and large federations with thousands of students, the instructors at Neko-Bu-Kai Karate School remain faithful to tradition, interpreting karate as a path of self-improvement, where every training session, every encounter, every goal is an opportunity to challenge oneself.

In line with this principle, the school’s instructors are constantly evolving, pursuing studies across multiple aspects of the art—specific techniques, kata, and even cross-training with other martial arts. This journey, for example, led the Neko-Bu-Kai Karate School to incorporate kobujutsu (the use of traditional weapons) into karate training, in line with the original Okinawan approach where empty-hand techniques (karate) and weapon training (kobujutsu) evolved side by side as complementary aspects of a unified martial system therefore practiced together.

However, this drive for knowledge has not led the school into a self-referential direction; rather, it has encouraged meaningful engagement with other traditions and Masters— some of whom are long-standing friends, such as Shihan Renzo Scalmati (founder of E.U.N.K.A.), Sensei Enrico Paccagnella, Sensei Giacomo Orisio and Shihan Michele Julitta.

As a “traditional” Karate School, great emphasis is placed on the principles of the , summarised in the Dōjō Kun (the rules of the dojo), which guide the practitioner along the path and help develop both physical and mental skills.

KARATE TRAINING COURSE

The Neko-Bu-Kai Karate Training Course is designed as training for both mind and body. It combines a traditional training method with specific athletic preparation sessions and foundational exercises aimed at improving strength, flexibility, coordination, and reflexes.

LINEAGE

The Neko-Bu-Kai Karate School represents the heart and foundation of a pre-existing tradition: the S.K.I. founded by Master Bruno Cividini.

The school’s senior instructors boast over 40 years of experience, shaped by the technical teachings of Master Cividini and enriched through international seminars and competitions— yet above all, inspired by encounters with some of the greatest masters of this art, such as Master Kato, Master Yumoto, Master Tomita, and especially Master Hirokazu Kanazawa.

The school carries on this legacy, faithfully continuing the teachings of Master Kanazawa, maintaining ties with the SKIF and his son Nobuaki Kanazawa through a longstanding friendship with SKKIF members such as Roger Carpenter and Chris Gillies.
